Braids!

I tried another new hairstyle yesterday when I had a busy day out on the town. I flipped all of my hair to the right side, took one strand from the crown and braided it down the right side of my head. Then, I put all of my hair into a low ponytail. The effect is simple but elegant (see title link). It's definitely unique. What's better than braids?

Hair Twists

This is a cute hair idea that I came across yesterday. It takes about two minutes to create and voila, you will look more put-together than the others (see title link). According to the official instructions, this look works best with texturizing wax, but I went without and it turned out fine. After air-drying my hair, I just took 2" sections of my hair on either sides of my part, split each section into two equally, and twisted them together. It'd be best if you secured them with elastics, but I didn't have any at the time and they stayed twisted. Run your fingers through your hair to blend it in, and snap! Twists make you the instant beach babe!

Summer Hookup?

Sure, new summer flings are beautiful and romantic...you spend hours replaying moments in your head, savoring the perfection...but don't jump in too fast. You may just end up hurt (see title link).

Adidas Originals

My resolution for the summer is to get in shape. That said, I've been looking at some workout gear (a girl's mind always turns to fashion at one point or another, right?). Well, I saw this at the Adidas Originals store yesterday...It's the Adidas Originals D S Trefoil Firebird Track Top. I chose the Matte Yellow/White (E16492) color, but it comes in 9 different shades. For $65 (name-brand cost!), you get those nice front welt pockets, ribbed cuffs and hem, 100% polyester shiny tricot, and that trefoil zip-puller. Adidas promises quality. That's why it's worth it (see title link).

Watch This!

Nixon Now has a pretty unique line of watches...this particular model, called Vega in the Sinatra shade caught my eye. It's pricey at $60, but the one-size fits all watch has a great stretch band with polycarbonate (see title link). It looks like a bracelet that's cutting-edge and retro.

Too Much Jonas?

I'm a proud subscriber of Seventeen magazine. I used to eagerly check the mailbox at the beginning of each month to find out who the inspiring celebrity on the cover was for each new issue. Then the June issue arrived a few weeks ago. Whose faces were staring at me? The Jonas Brothers! The cover boasted a full-size pull-out poster inside, spanning two pages! What happened to courageous, ambitious women and fascinating interviews? Wasting pages on posters of poster boys? Sure, they have an exciting-enough story, of climbing to the top without those Hollywood connections. According to the article's introduction, they all believe in "living like [they]'re at the bottom, even if [they]'re at the top," the trio is anything but living easy. Private jets, motorcycle and sidecar, thousands of pairs of jeans. Hypocrisy doesn't exactly spell R-O-L-E M-O-D-E-L to me. And the world has already had too much Jonas. They're everywhere! On shirts, camping gear, lunchboxes, etc! What happened to artists working for the music (see title link)? I honestly don't want my money going toward producing a poster so large that I can stare at every stitch in their pants.

Penn Badgley and Blake Lively are one mixed-up Gossip Girl couple. In real-life, they're as simple as can be, jetting off to luxury Mexican beaches and shopping at Barneys together. But that's not the point of this blog post.

Penn's helping his lovely gf in this picture (thousands of teenage girls sigh here) Yes, just like you and me, TV stars need to be protected, too. Sure, this isn't a post that particularly applies to teens, but this is an important cause we all should be aware of. Nail Art!

Cina 3D Nail Decals are a great way to spruce up your toes. Obviously, apply the color of nail polish you want first and then apply the decals after it has dried sufficiently after a few minutes. For best results, apply a clear top coat to seal it in, according to celebrity manicurist Elle. These particular decals are pretty flexible and they stick really well for some long-lasting use. They're made of rubber and have hospital-grade adhesive (see title link). Best of all, they're on sale for $1 off online, costing just $3.29.

America's Next Top Model

Has anyone watched America's Next Top Model? I've been told it's on television Wednesdays at 8/7c on the CW network but have never gotten around to watching it (see title link). Cycle 13 is set to begin, I hear?

This Puffed Heart Stone ring from Forever 21 is so quirky and funky...I love it and its $3 price (see title link). The pink is so girly, you'll look like an absolute sweetheart, with a little twist with the polished metal and pressed metal frame. It comes in 3 colors, but this Hot Pink/Silver combination is my personal favorite.

AMI Clubwear

The girliest girl to the roughest tomboy will love these wedges from AMI Clubwear. The shoes are ultra-feminine but have a boyish touch thanks to the cork bottom. N.Y.C. New York Color

N.Y.C. New York Color has a new Smooch Proof Long Wearing Lip Color. I love the two steps included: conditioning color and vitamin-enriched gloss. The Heartbreaker 485A shade is my favorite, but there are 10 shades to choose from! It gives you a dramatic look and really does last 10 hours. My lips dry really easily with lipsticks, but this one keeps them well-moisturized so I don't feel cakey. Mane 'n Tail

The Original Mane 'n Tail "The Original Conditioner" is an amazing part of my hair-washing routine. I know that my hair is being fortified with proteins and it LOOKS more healthy and lustrous as a result. It claims to make hair longer, too, but I'm not sure if I buy into it. The best part is that you can leave it in or rinse it out, depending on the look you want to go for and your hair texture, of course. It repaired my split ends and definitely stopped some breakage from happening. It contains lots of natural oils, too, for your scalp, and it allegedly also corrects the drying caused by sun and wind.
