Borrow last spring's hair trends

Just because it's a new year doesn't mean last year's trends should all go down the drain. For example, I think a messy side braid still looks incredibly sexy and sweet (see title link). The carelessness doesn't make you look un-put-together, and if you set it with hairspray you'll look effortlessly gorgeous all day long. You can even skip the elastic if you stick the tips together!

Accessories!

Accessories can make or break an outfit. I usually don't wear much jewelry, but this necklace from TopShop is a MUST (see title link). It's on a long-chain and totally on trend! Costs $28. It'll totally amp you up.

Shorts time

Isn't it exciting when you realize it's time to bring out those old shorts again? Better yet, time to shop for new ones. This particular pair is from American Eagle Outfitters, and is on sale for $24.95 (see title link)! The High-Waisted Dark Denim Shortie is great for the Women's department, and is perfect for a spring afternoon.

Biker jacket

Another day, another splurge-worthy item! The Muubaa Athena Biker is a hot jacket that has sculpting wire so you can tailor it for lots of different looks! The shoulder epaulettes add definition as well. Costs $423.30 because of that London currency (see title link).

Rug for your room

I love that feeling of being comfortable in a room. A good investment (if you're clean!) is a rug. The Ultra Plush Rug from PBteen is a splurge, but the ivory looks so homey and clean. Costs $269 for the medium 5' x 8' size. The shag rug is made from 100% New Zealand wool and doesn't really shed (see title link)!

Eliminate acne marks

Acne marks can take an eternity to disappear. Luckily, there's Clearasil Ultra Acne + Marks Wash and Mask, which unblocks your pores and fights the formation of acne marks from the beginning. You can use it as a daily cleanser as well, which helps reduce redness on your face. 2% salicylic acid. Costs $7.99 (see title link).

Basic black

I'm really into basics right now. A great spring basic is a black tank top! Cheap ones are available at stores like Kmart (see title link).

Eating Disorder wakeup call

Did you know that a new buzz word called "binge eating disorder" has started gaining popularity among doctors (see title link). It is a serious risk and can do you serious harm (see title link), and 3x as many people have it when compared to anorexia and bulimia combined. Click on the link to learn more about this disease.

Here are some Rebecca Taylor earrings I found (see title link). They look great with hair in a wispy topknot. Your hair will look awesome when you put your hair in a bun and accentuate them.

Bangs!

Peekaboo bangs are hot right now (see title link). Love this look from Sarah Hyland of Modern Family at this year's InStyle/Warner Brothers Golden Globes Afterparty at the Beverly Hilton hotel (see title link). The messiness is sexy and the center part is so subtle. If you style them with a round brush after blowdrying, they'll separate easily.

Sweet hair!

On Fridays, I try to look good for a night out but hate spending too much time on my hair. I found a sweet style that looks elegant and is quick to create! Just part your hair in the middle, and make a twist on each side! Once you secure them with clear elastics, just put your hair in a bun and you'll look classic and fun at the same time (see title link).

Drugstore conditioner

Pantene Pro-V's Nature Fusion collection helps restore your hair against damage, with its cassia, avocado, bamboo, and grapeseed ingredients to strengthen your hair against split ends. Barrettes are back!

I usually go to the drugstore to buy hair accessories, but Jennifer Ouellette's stuff is worth looking for at your nearest Barneys New York (see title link). I picked the Rafia Barrette in Cherry, which cost me $30.

Isabel Marant

I love this white blouse from the Isabel Marant Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 collection (see title link). Great for tall people!

New brand love!

Usually I post about a specific product, but it's impossible to choose one standout with American Rag. This brand is available only at Macy's and is highly addictive! They have great basics with solids, nonintrusive prints, and, best of all, JEANS. I just bought my first pair of their jeggings! All for under $60 (see title link).

Almost beach time!

Go to the beach in style this season. Coolers can be bulky and boring. Dress them up a little by storing them compactly in this Boysenberry Cooler from Vera Bradley. The interior and exterior surfaces are easy to clean for those sticky soda spills, and the shoulder strap is adjustable for comfort. Costs $28 (see title link).

I never thought to buy suede flats, but the Francine Coral Tubular Suede Sandals from Topshop are too irresistible. The Coral shade is gorgeous and they cost $70. The toe loop holds your feet in without constraining them (see title link)!

Daisy Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Perfume for Women is all-new at Macy's (see title link). Very fruity and bubbly, with florals that smell wildly exhilarating. $70 for 2.5 oz and $85 for 5.1 oz.

Workout time!

I'm really not much of an athletic person, but these shorts are great to wear to the gym. The Soccer Rollover shorts from Puma cost $28 and definitely won't ride up as you climb that elliptical. Made of polyester and feature a drawstring waistband for comfy fit (see title link).

Helmut Lang

I think this dress can be a little too old for certain girls, but the sophistication is also worth admiring. Made by Helmut Lang, the $470 Folded Crepe dress is simply gorgeous and was worn by Rachael Ray on her talk show in January (see title link).

Florals!

I used to hate florals and thought they made me look too cutesy (yes, my mom made me wear them for years before I could choose my own clothes). But with flower power making a return, the touch of floral in your outfit actually looks sweet and put-together (see title link)!
