Elsie Katz Couture

This is a cute, floral dress that I found in a magazine. It's by Elsie Katz Couture and totally adorable (see title link). Very thin material, so definitely suitable for a summer day. Yeah, yeah, I know it's December 30, but a girl can dream, right?

Journeys

Here's a cool new pick I found. The Onitsuka Tiger Ultimate 81 in the Silver/Green version. It's comfortable and good for your feet with its supportive heel and low weight. According to the Journeys website, it's a Technical Running shoe from 1981. Trendy, too, with its metallic color that goes with a lot of stuff because of the two additional shades of aquamarine and pink. It's $59.99, but really, very versatile in terms of fashion (see title link).

Pink Belts

Pink belts are another style staple for the season. Vibrant colors are the key!

J.O.N.A.S.

I know it's bizarre to take style inspiration from a guy, but Kevin Jonas is truly a style guru. His style is so sophisticated and classy. Truly knows his stuff (see title link).

Life. Energy. Intelligence

L.E.I. Jeans are a budget-friendly resource for good jeans. They used to be Macy's/Sears denim, but these days they're sold at WalMart (see title link)! Taylor Swift is even endorsing them in their latest print campaigns. I'm wearing my pair of L.E.I Jeans right now, and cannot even explain how well they fit and how comfortable they are. Seriously. I've had them for 4 years and they still look as great as they did the first time I wore them, after all those washes!

Gold Bangles!

Gold bangles make a stylish statement these days. Metallics are perfect for the cold season. Very Rihanna, I think

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Rebecca. Taylor.

Here's a really classy, beautiful top I found from Rebecca Taylor. It's a cream-colored short sleeve piece and quite sophisticated. It's a pricey $275, though. I guess I'm into high-end designers this week (see title link)?

Happy Christmas Eve!

Gold.Sign.

These jeans are classic and extremely good-quality. They better be, too, because these Goldsign jeans are a hefty $238. The Starlette 9" Rise Slim Leg Jean model is a pretty shade of blue and comfortable without being too tight with a 14" opening. There's some whiskering in the front and a cool, worn and distressed look (see title link). Channel your inner Selena Gomez. It seems that this is something she would pick out.

Black Headbands

Black headbands are in these days. They stand out against light hair and blend in in the best way with dark hair. Thin ones are best, and totally fitting for the season. Plus, they keep the hair out of your face!

Seventeen!

Reading celebrity news and interviews is my guilty pleasure. So if that's your quick fix as well, then head over to Seventeen.com. It has tons of interviews with all your favorite stars, including the Style Stars of 2008 (see title link).

PS3

I played a PS3 for the first time recently, and was amazed at how much fun I had playing the Karaoke Revolution presents American Idol Encore 2 game. It just released last month and even comes with a microphone. You get to choose from 40 hit songs that span the disco era to the presnt and then show your stuff to the judges. You can play against up to 7 other people, too. I've never even watched American Idol before but I still enjoyed it. It's just really cool (see title link). If you have a PS3, I would definitely recommend it.

"Are You Ready To Become The Next AMERICAN IDOL?"

Dressy?

There is a wonderful Johnny Martin dress available at Dillard's right now. It's black and white, with a black skirt and black and white top that has a black base and white translucent floral print on top. A very classic look. It's originally priced at $64, but with holiday sales, you might be able to snag it for a cheaper price (see title link).

Anchor Blue

When I go to Texas for the holidays, what's the one store I can't wait to shop at? Anchor Blue! They have great, moderately-priced jeans that are classic and sophisticated. Check them out (see title link)!

Cool Shoes!

How fitting for the holidays...the Holiday shoe from the Jessica Simpson Collection in the Honey color. It comes with a leather exterior, and a whopping 4.6 inches. Available in sizes 5-10. The platform height is 0.7 inch for some comfort, at least. The crisscross stiletto style is new and innovative and looks great with a bag or clutch made from similar material. The best part? 15% of the profits made will be donated to the Armed Forces Children's Education Fund, a charity for children who have been unfortunate enough to lose parents in war. So during this holiday season, treat yourself AND others. The shoes are $89, but this is one of those unique models that won't be found cheaply anywhere else (see title link).

Kira. Plastinina.

I wrote a blog entry about her a while ago, but sixteen-year-old Russian fashion designer Kira Plastinina is everywhere these days! Recently, she did a photo shoot and styled an America's Next Top Model contestant. Her clothes are definitely chic and SHE is an inspiring teenager (see title link).

ProActiv

ProActiv Solution is reportedly one of the most effective anti-acne systems. I don't have excessive acne, so I've only tried some of their Refining Mask at a friend's house once. It did feel good afterwards, though, and really does fight blemishes (and protects new ones from appearing). It contains sulfur, Kaolin (which absorbs surface oils). Order their system if you please (see title link)! The mask is an added free bonus when you buy the 3-step system.

It's a Secret...

A big question on many girls' minds: Where to find a good strapless bra?
I found one at Victoria's Secret. It's called the Victoria's Secret Very Sexy 100-way Bra, and it works especially well in the cool nude shade. You can wear it normally, strapless, racerback, one shoulder, whatever. There are 44 slits on it so that you can literally adjust it 100 ways. It comes with three straps (halter, regular, and a low-back converter, and although it's only lightly lined, there is subtle padding for those who want it! Underwire cups and back closure, all included, along with a clear, plunging center at the front. It's extremely comfortable as well. And although it is expensive at $50, you can actually wear it every day because of its versatility. Check it out (see title link).

Glam it Up

Here's a cool holiday pick. It's an expensive Tarina Tarantino ring (in the Heliotrope variety). It's extra-large and is a cocktail style, with a 1'' Swarovski crystal and crystal/metal beaded band. Definitely lights up a room. The catch? It's a cool $100. Not necessarily worth it in today's economy, but hey, there are always the elite few who can afford it even today (see title link).

Daisy

New favorite fragrance alert: Daisy by Marc Jacobs is the new eau de parfum for sophisticated, elegant women everywhere. It's fresh, feminine, and playful. There's a hint of innocence as well. Not only does it contain daisy scent, but it also has a secret ingredient: violet. It oozes whimsy and eclectic, and the black color makes it edgy as well. Like the description reads, it truly is "enchanting, spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth."
You can buy it at Sephora now. Don't forget to put it on your Christmas list (see title link)!

LBD Alert

Yes, I know this is a picture of a blue dress. But I found this dress in black at JCPenney. It's by Speechless and was $50 there. This one is only available in blue online at Macys.com but is on clearance for $15. Maybe the store carries it in black? Either way, it is truly beautiful. The sequins are so classic and yet make you feel like a star at the same time (see title link).

Kuku Coco Butter!

I got some new deodorant the other day and thought I'd share the benefits. It smells like a fragrance, truly, or at least a body spray. That's because it's given the same scent that the body spray of identical variety has. It's Secret Platinum Scent Expressions Invisible Solid in Kuku Coco Butter. Buyer reviews on drugstore.com (see title link) were mostly positive. One remark says it's not Little Black Dress approved, and I can't fight that one since I haven't worn an LBD in months. However, for everyday use, this deodorant is definitely the way to go.

That Smells GOOD

The Black Friday experience was exciting enough, but while I was browsing the clearance racks in Macy's at 7 AM that day, I noticed a display set up in the Juniors section that featured The World of Harajuku Lovers Fragrance. There are five different scents, each with a different plastic model on the top of its bottle. I sampled the one with the blonde girl, and it smelled heavenly. I can't guarantee the rest, but the $45 1.0 oz bottle of the "G" scent is definitely worth trying (see title link).

Free Stuff!?

If you are a Seventeen magazine subscriber or purchased the latest issue off newsstands, check out their Dress-Up Freebies calendar and enter to win! For example, today they gave away a jewel necklace to 100 lucky girls from girlprops.com. One of those lucky girls next time can be YOU (see title link).

Purse Essential

I have a natural UniBrow, so I'm always hunting for a good tweezer that can fit in my purse without emptying it. When I was at CVS on Saturday I saw the Tweezerman brand. According to the package, the brand is the choice of make-up artists and celebrities and credits itself on being the beauty tool expert. I haven't tried it long enough to see whether it is truly effective, but the hair has not yet shown regrowth. The point is, they were as painless to use as tweezers can be. For all the color-loving folks out there, they come in a variety of shades to fit your mood (or outfit?) (see title link).

Party Makeup

Haven't personally tried this one, but it sounds practical. The Mark Party Starter Kit has a custom color palette with two eye shadows, one blush, one lipstick, and one gloss for $25 in one black clutch to be ready for a touchup at any fete this holiday season. Maybe something to experiment with (see title link)?

French, anyone?

Looking for a French manicure shade for home? Try Nicole by OPI Colors With a Conscience Nail Polish in the Sheer Fun shade. It's $6.64 at Target (see title link) and, though a bit pricey, gives a clean coat when done carefully.

Clothes and Phone? Together?

Southpole, the department store brand that sells some flashy clothing that emphasizes curves, is launching an offer to give YOU a free music & camera phone (provided you pay the activation fee and sign a 2-year contract). I just saw this in a Southpole ad so I don't know much about this. Either way, you can check it out here (see title link).

B-R-U-N-E-T-T-E

I usually try not to be to exclusive with my product critiques, but I couldn't try the other color shampoos in this line because of my one hair color.Pantene Expressions Brunette Expressions Shampoo with Liquid Crystals seemed enticing, so I decided to give it a go. Since my hair is black in nearly all areas, I was scared of what I'd find. While it did lighten it a bit, the newfound shine is worth it. My scalp feels more moisturized and I'm definitely scratching less (although I haven't fully stopped). The bottle says it helps to strengthen against damage, but you'll have to see for yourself on that one. I'd recommend trying it once, though (see title link).

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Look!

This month's issue of Seventeen magazine has lots of cool stuff, including an awesome party guide (see title link). Definitely worth looking for.

H&M

I saw this dress in an ad and it is HOT! A cool color, though (navy blue). It's $39.90 at H&M and perfect for a party, gift, or other occasion. I don't mean to sound like a cheesy commercial, but it is just one of those dresses that will look good on anyone (see title link).

Ma Cherie...

I seem to be big on fragrances this week. Hmm, I suppose all this after-Thanksgiving cheer has me at the mall and at Sephora, especially, sampling new eau de parfums. Here's a new one I found: Miss Dior Cherie. There is green tangerine, violette, and pink jasmine, as well as patchouli, crystalline musk, strawberry leaves, caramelized popcorn, and strawberry sorbet. It's so youthful, yet timelessly classic (see title link).

Leftovers?

Want a great lunch on Thanksgiving weekend that doesn't taste like a leftover? Take some of that yummy turkey and put it in a wrap or tortilla. Add some stuffing and gravy, microwave and BAM! a wonderful meal (see title link).

Plan for the future now by beginning a dream job today! Take internships! It'll give you valuable experience (see title link) and look good on a resume.

Earth[y]

No, I'm not talking about going green. I mean to try to let your natural beauty shine. It's nice to take care of basic hygiene, but don't drown yourself in eyeliner or perfume. Think of the smell of freshly-cut grass or woodsy pine trees. Don't they smell great? Make that an inspiration to show your true, earthy beauty (see title link).

Mmm..That Smells GOOD

I was at Saks Fifth Avenue the other day and found this wonderful fragrance. Emporio Armani Diamonds Intense is the ultimate luxe scent. It's the only one I've ever seriously considered splurging on (its 3.4 oz. larger bottle costs $70). It oozes a floral, rose scent that gives a feminine feel. It's main ingredient, patchouli gives it a daring edge as well, almost musky (see title link).

Break Time?

Does your boyfriend never answer his phone when you call him? Or is it "never on?" Well, if this is an easily noticeable trend, it could mean warning of a future breakup, since he obviously doesn't want the relationship anymore (see title link).

Monday, November 24, 2008

Earrings!

I just found these Girlprops earrings that I knew I had to have. Long and dangly silver discs that are flattering with any hairstyle and match any outfit, dressy or casual. They are a whole five and a half inches long! And they're only $8 (see title link).

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Body Peace

Sign Seventeen magazine's Body Peace Treaty! The most important point, in my opinion, is to not let anyone's comments influence your own negative opinions toward your appearance (see title link).

R.J. & Ashley

Ashley Tisdale is the cover girl of the latest issue of Seventeen magazine. Good choice or bad? You tell me. Either way, there are some really artistically beautiful pictures of her (see title link) that the magazine took. Also, in a particular photo she is wearing this gorgeous R.J. Graziano necklace on her WRIST (creative, huh?).

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Tampax

Say goodbye to backup! Tampax Pearl provides you with leak-free protection anytime (see title link). In the field of tampons, these definitely take the title of queen!

Stress/College

There are so many scary things concerning the college application process. There are interviews to nail, tests to do perfectly on, and essays to write! How can it be balanced? When will the applications end (see title link)?

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Taylor Swift

What an amazing role model this girl is. In a recent interview (courtesy of Seventeen magazine), Taylor Swift was asked how it felt to be a role model. She answered so humbly, saying that it was a compliment to her character, something that was really important to her. What a down-to-earth, all-around nice person (see title link)!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Guy Facts

Apparently, there are some universal ground rules that all guys follow when it comes to friendship and girls. The first and foremost? It's not cool to badmouth your friend when in the presence of girls. Especially if you're specifically supposed to make them sound appealing. If he does do that? It means he likes you.
Stiff competition (see title link).

The Pill

You know how they say birth control prevents pregnancy? Well, what if you're not having sex? Why would you take it? Well, if you're considering having sex in the near future, you should consider taking the pill, so that if the moment "just happens" you won't be surprised (see title link). Always be prepared.

Health

Exercise is important, and if you follow Seventeen magazine's advice, you can look hot at home (see title link)!

Wavy to Curly

I just got Garnier Fructis Style Curl Shaping Spray Gel and I have to say, it totally works. My hair is super-thick so it could be a little stronger to completely eliminate the frizz, but my curls are definitely more enhanced and defined and more shiny! I just create the spirals with my fingers when my hair is wet and spray the stuff all over.
It only costs $4, so it's well worth the investment (see title link).

Friday, November 14, 2008

Milia Gone!

Clean & Clear Soft Purifying Cleanser (see title link) is a perfect product to exfoliate your skin to get rid of those dead skin cells that look like tiny bumps. It purifies your skin to make it look more youthful, beautiful, and healthy. While the scrub helps to exfoliate, the built-in moisturizer makes sure that your skin is never dry.
All this for just $7.

Slightly Awkward...

Yes, this is what it looks like. Just some ideas about some excellent coverage you can get if you're a tampon user. It's perfect for athletes but also great off-the-field. It'll give you great protection because it's made for moving around in. You can even get a free sample (see title link). Playtex Sport is reportedly the best of the best.

What an awesome lip gloss. It's perfect for keeping your lips out of the spotlight but still make them look flawless. It's especially great for golden skin. It's Maybelline New York ShineSeduction Lipcolor in Apricot Aura (see title link). And it's just $8. Happy weekend!

Beauty!

Seventeen magazine's Beauty section is a must-read. It teaches you to enhance your good features, not hide the bad ones. Embrace your beauty (see title link)!

Wanted: Boots

Here are some edgy boots...they're from Wanted and they're the Queen model. Certainly not ladylike-looking to me, but they're supposed to be pretty good in support. Wanted shoes in general are of high quality, so you can't really go wrong (see title link).

Classic Bedding

This Seventeeen Mallorie Comforter Set. It's black and white taken to the max gives a chic look that is sure to be remembered. There are damask prints paired with polka dots. The whole set runs from $89.99, including the comforter set, accent pillows, and valance (see title link). Get to JCPenney and check it out!

Endless Heels...

These shoes are a girl's dream. Your legs will look like they go on for miles with this pair from the Jessica Simpson Collection called the Layla Pump. I wasn't crazy about the beige color at first, but it actually makes a great contrast with black. It also has a cork platform for extra support so you're not tottering around in those high heels. It gives you a bit more height as well. They're so incredibly cute. They're $79, though, so think seriously about splurging before buying them (see title link).

Cute Boots

These fold-over boots by Roxy are extremely comfortable AND cute. Its insole provides a hidden wedge so your legs are slightly elongated. The only downside? They're $59 (see title link).

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Classic Black Top!

This is a classic black top from Rampage with a studded kick. So cute, although it is $29, which is a little pricey. The material is a bit heavy for the neck as well, but the top looks great once it's on (see title link)

Fairy Dust

Paris Hilton just came out with a wonderful-smelling new fragrance called Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton. It is truly magical with its extracts of pink peony and orange blossom and hints of spring gardenia, peach nectar, water lily, sueded patchouli, cashmere musk, and vanilla cream.

It's wonderful. Try it (see title link)!

Serious Business

A new law in effect from January 2009 will allow all girls in the United States free access to rape kits. If you or a friend have ever been assaulted, you CAN go to get help from someone. Go to your local emergency room to get some DNA samples and to get cared for if you're hurt. Experts advise you not to take a shower until you've been examined so you have some evidence. There are so many crisis centers out there. You really can go get help (see title link).

Burton Snowboarding Sells Skirts?

What a great, basic skirt. Makes you think of summer, right? The irony is, it's manufactured by a snowboarding company called Burton Snowboarding! I have to say, they sure know how to create their warm-weather apparel. This skirt is green corduroy and is so basic but so versatile! It'll match anything and you'll look effortlessly cute. Although its normal price is $45, you can buy it now online for $22.50! 50% off sale, people (see title link)!

Awesome Sneakers

These Zoo York sneakers can look good with ANY outfit (see title link). Skinny jeans, dark rocker pants, rough denim. The gold color makes the whole look shine and the multicolors allow it to match with any outfit! Although the style is masculine, the look itself is ultra-feminine. Too bad the sneakers are $58. Worth it? You tell me.

C-U-R-L-S

If you just apply a golf-ball sized amount of this Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious Holding Foam to your hair and scrunch it all over your hair, your curls will be as defined as can be. Make sure to apply from roots to ends, though. The only drawback to this amazing product: It's $26 (see title link).

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Shiny Hair!

The secret to shiny hair? It's all in the product. No need for unhealthy curling irons or straighteners that burn your hair. Try using some herbal oils, instead. That'll smooth split ends, too, if you apply the hair before you sleep and leave it on overnight (see title link).

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Oxfords!

These shoes are to die for. The BCBGirls Scent Slingback Oxford in the Cream/Camel hue is just an amazing addition to any outfit, casual or professional. The open toe is so glamorous and the lace-up part still exudes classicism. The stretchy back strap ensures a comfortable fit, too. The sole is manmade and supportive, so you don't have to worry about much discomfort in those sky-high 3.75" heels. If you buy them now online (see title link), you'll get $45% off the regular price of $97.

America Ferrera!

America Ferrera is such an amazingly beautiful person without conforming to the stick-figure image of Hollywood. In the October issue of Seventeen, she talks about how female relationships on TV are portrayed as catty. What a mature role model (see title link).

Those R.J. Graziano bracelets she's wearing are pretty nice as well.

Friday, October 24, 2008

BenzaClin?

Here's another acne medication (prescription only) that I found an ad for, called BenzaClin Topical Gel. Small print on the back page makes it unappealing to read, so users don't inform themselves of the potentially dangerous side effects. Rats are tested to prove safety. Who knows what the animals are being subjected to? So many issues (see title link).

Thursday, October 23, 2008

ANTM?

Have you seen the latest print ads promoting America's Next Top Model? They are the most unappealing, revolting ads I've ever seen. That show, unlike American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, which actually showcases more talent than drama, centers around more pettiness than actual modeling. Everything is so obviously over-the-top that it fails to appear tasteful. Tyra Banks is such an amazing role model to women worldwide, but this show does not let her rise up to her full potential (see title link).

Help Others and Yourself

If you're looking for a new lip gloss in a hot shade, try C.O. Bigelow Cancer Vixen Mentha Lip Tint in the Pink Mint shade, which is available for $8. It contains 2% peppermint oil for soothing your lips and freshening your breath (see title link), it helps the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The brand will donate $250,000 of its proceeds from this product to said charity. So take that extra step and get shopping!

Tighten Those Abs!

Want to get those abdominals firm FAST? Try laying on your back with your arms at your sides parallel to your body and legs lifted in a right angle (your knees to pelvis are straight up, and your feet are parallel to the ground). Keep your chin tucked into your chest, and straighten one leg out at a time and bring it down without touching it to the ground. Yeah, nice big endurance booster. I found it in Seventeen magazine (see title link), so check it out!

College Budget

College is already so expensive these days. But there are hidden expenses to college life, too, like supplies for your dorm that need regular refills. If you're short on cleaning supplies or other essentials, skip the campus store and go to a normal one so you don't buy overpriced items. Better yet, go to BJ's and buy in bulk (see title link)!

College Sweepstakes

Seventeen magazine is holding its 2009 College Sweepstakes again. The grand-prize winner gets $250,000. That's a nice chunk of change. You can enter by clicking on the title of this entry (see title link).

Clogged Pores?

Your face will be free of bacteria, because it will die as a result of Zapzyt 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment Bar! There's no soap in the formula, so it gently takes away the excess dirt and oils from your skin that causes breakouts. That helps new acne from beginning, too.
Customer reviews on drugstore.com (see title link) are all positive, and some even go so far as to call it a "miracle cure" for their acne problems. It's only $6, so it's definitely worth a shot!

Fine Print

Galderma Laboratories (see title link), the company that creates Differin, a prescription topical acne treatment, sure has a lot of well-kept secrets. Although it provides all of the risks associated with its products' use, it presents them on one page with three columns in tiny print. That way, people won't feel the need to read it (looks too boring to read!), if they'll be able to decipher it at ALL.

Another Environmentally-Friendly Entry...

Check out these cool stories of Paul Mitchell people doing good for the Earth (see title link). Sunnie Brook Jones, for example, a salon owner in San Luis Obispo, CA, made all of her administrative aspects computerized to cut down paper. On Earth Day, she picks up trash around the area, too.

Save the Earth and Your Hair

Paul Mitchell is partnering with other beauty companies to create a month of free giveaways called 30 Days of Beauty! Each product is earth-friendly, too, so you have a beautiful outlook, both inside and out. Paul Mitchell products are expensive and only available at salons, and I, personally, did not find them any different than drugstore products, but I commend their eco-friendly efforts (see title link).

This cherry gloss is so perfect for a Saturday afternoon out with the girls or even at work. It has a sparkle that will light up your whole face. Drake!

It's common to notice the hairstyles girls get. But what about the guys? I find this reverse part pretty attractive, especially on Drake Bell. Simply changing the direction of the part gives him his own unique look. Oh, and check out Drake Bell's website. He's a pretty awesome musician, too (see title link).

Jordin!

Has anyone seen Jordin Sparks lately? She's blossomed in front of our very eyes and has such a glamorous, sexy look that is still down-to-earth. Check out her dress from this year's BET Awards. It's definitely red-hot. An amazing look for an amazing voice (see title link).

Here's a cool line of clothing that specializes in cute jeans. Celebrity Pink Jeans' skinny jeans come in amazing, bright shades like raspberry, royal blue, plum, and and owl (see title link). You can buy a piece from its collection at Dillard's!

A-Line Dresses

Here's an amazing find I saw from BB Dakota. It's an A-Line dress that really shows off a girl's legs without being too short. The key is the full skirt which elongates your legs while giving you curves! The red dress is $72, but it's quite elegant (see title link)

Stay Fresh

Fruit of the Loom is hosting a Fresh Design Contest. If you're a savvy fashion designer, enter for a chance to win $1000! Basically, you design your own collection and submit designs. I, personally, can't draw for my life, but all of you artists out there, go for it (see title link)!

Zeno Mini

If you want an expensive but effective way to get rid of your pimples, try the Zeno Mini. It's a pocket-sized machine that gives your pimples a small dose of heat to calm them down. Pimples are supposed to disappear within 24-48 hours (see title link). It's battery-powered, so you can take it anywhere!

The Revolution

RocaWear is changing up its fashion to fit in with the new times. They call it the RocaWear Revolution. Jay-Z's line is amazing and fits well. There's a certain taste needed to appreciate it, but the clothes are of good quality and stand out with their bright lettering (see title link).

Get in the Spirit...

Can you believe Halloween's just a few weeks away? Wow, October arrives fast! As you're looking at the changing of the leaves and wondering what to do, check out the stuff Seventeen magazine's got about Halloween. There are lots of fun ideas (see title link)!

Great Lash!

Maybelline New York Great Lash Washable Mascara gives such thick, full lashes. The dramatic black shade is absolutely incredible. Check it out (see title link).

Gambling

In this month's issue of Seventeen, a big story was written relating to gambling. Lots of teenage girls are becoming addicted to it, mainly because of its easy accessiblilty. After all, you can play online Poker easily, go to casinos in Canada (lower age limit), and even get a lottery ticket seller to sell you a few tix without having to show an ID. The tricks are endless and it's easy to get hooked. Beware the dangers of debt (see title link).

Red Blouse

This Andrew & Co. top (see title link) is so feisty and bold. It's available at select Macy's, and it's $32.

Pastels

Light purples and pinks are in for fall. Why not bring out your natural beauty? These pastel shadows, blushes, and lipsticks will highlight the prettiest parts of your face. You'll light up an otherwise dreary autumn day (see title link)!

Sunday, September 28, 2008

Red Lips!

Make a bold statement at your next party with red lips and no other makeup. They'll stand out in the best way, AND you'll look extra classy and sophisticated. Don't wear glossy red to school, though. THAT's overdone (see title link).

Miley?

What's this about Miley Cyrus being Seventeen magazine's September 2008 cover girl? They say she's a deep person who cares about her family, friends, and faith. I don't know about you, but I haven't seen very many religious morals come out of her lately (see title link). Here's a 15-year-old trying to act like she's in her 20's. It's not working.

Johnny Martin Juniors

This line has the best dresses. This purple and black one is demure and fun at the same time. I love the green leaf pattern! The Johnny Martin Juniors dress IS $58, though (see title link).

Demi!

Demi Lovato is impossible to dislike. She has an incredible voice (especially considering the fact that she's just 16 and one hundred times better than Vanessa Hudgens or Miley Cyrus). This girl's got singing and acting talents, and she shows them in Camp Rock, where she gest to play Joe Jonas' love interest (jealous?). Her debut album is out today (see title link), and she's been previewing it while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. She's the best friend you wish you had. Too bad that title belongs to Selena Gomez.

The Embarassing Topic...

Yes, I'm talking about the unmentionable. For amazing coverage during your period, try Always Ultra Overnights. They offer back-to-back protection and has a soft Dri-Weave that feels like cotton! The pleats are stretchy so they can flex with your movements. That means no more leaks (see title link)

PDA.

PDA. No, I'm not referring to your personal organizer and computer. I'm talking about Public Displays of Affection. Did you know that 85% of guys are cool with holding hands while you're walking through the halls of school (see title link)? Make sure that your PDA never goes from flashy to trashy, though.

ProActiv

ProActiv Solution is endorsed by so many, you should try it because it actually works! My best friend had such severe acne that her skin was completely pimpled, but ProActiv took the acne away completely (for as long as she kept using it, anyway). Try it (see title link)!

This is Healthy? Really?

Are you tired of wondering what's healthy at the food court? Want something delicious and flavorful for a change? Well, go to Chick-Fil-A. Try their Char-Broiled Chicken Sandwich, which is white meat and pure protein. It isn't unnecessarily fried, either, so get it for a quick lunch at the mall (see title link)!

Just Do It

Nike is one of the most amazing athletic brands that exists. So try it. THat is all (see title link).

Blend that Beauty

This sponge is unique because of its shape, not just its color. The Beauty Blender sponge (see title link) was created by professional makeup artists Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz, and the curves are supposed to glide easily over the contours of your face. It's suede, so it feels good, too. Perfect for applying foundation, making it seem as if it's not on your skin at all! The problem is that the item costs a whopping $20! My opinion? A sponge is really not worth that kind of money.

Another Maybelline...

Here's another great Maybelline lipstick pick I found...Maybelline New York Moisture Extreme Lipcolor provides amazing color and lasting moisture that is so effective that it feels like a lip balm (see title link). It promises non-feathering and non-bleeding, and even has SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun's harmful rays. In my opinion, the shade to get is Midnight Red. The price of the item? Just $7!

Maybelline!

This lipstick is completely affordable AND good quality. Maybelline New York Superstay Lipcolor in Ruby is just $10, after all. It's great for a glamorous party in the Big Apple. It didn't cake at all, and lasts up to 18 hours. Plus, it truly feels like a balm. Although it takes a full two minutes to dry, it works quite well if you've got time to do your makeup well. Try it (see title link)!

Music!

Now if your mobile carrier is Verizon Wireless, you can download unlimited songs from Rhapsody for $14.99 a month! Sample all the songs you want (see title link)!

But remember: when in doubt, download free songs where you can find them!

Blake-Lively-Sleek

I, personally, have always longed for Blake Lively's beautiful, smooth locks. Well, now YOU can have that, too, with the aid of T3 Professional Ceramic Ionic Brush Trio 1. The large ceramic barrel brush is perfect for smoothing your hair so you can get that perfect root volume. You can even give it shine just by using the brush. The kit is pricey, at $48, but the look can be repeated endlessly, and is totally worth it (see title link).

Kira Plastinina

Kira Plastinina, the 16-year-old Russian fashion designer, now has a store in New York City! Each Kira Plastinina's is equipped with a Dylan's Candy Bar, so shoppers can munch on sweets while they shop! Smart, huh? She is a true entrepreneur, that's for sure (see title link).

Change for Charity!

This cute necklace by Girlprops features kissin' cousins with a bow on a 16" silver chain. It's only $8, and the best part? 17% of its proceeds go directly to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (see title link). What have you got to lose? Only children's risk for cancer.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Belt!

This belt by CutesyGirl is so perfect for girls who are curvy all over. So it's $36, and definitely not worth buying itself, but I'm sure it can be found at Wal-Mart or Target for a third of the price. It's thicker, and the brown makes it a good neutral hue. Check it out (see title link)!

Pay attention to those Akademiks

This skirt is perfect for a casual day on the town. It's elegant but made of denim, so you're not overdressed. It's by Akademiks, and it's $68. Looking for a way to spend that birthday money? This is it. It can be used for slightly dressy occasions and then some autumn days at school. The mini is even better (see title link)!

Beads!

I never thought that I would appreciate any of Paris Hilton's work. Yet there I was gazing at a Macy's dress that glittered with its white satin and bronze, edgy beads. The sleeveless knee-length dress seemed too good to be true. And at $88, it actually was. Yet I had to give Paris Hilton props. She actually designed this dress and it is terrific. I heartily recommend it to anyone who is ready to splurge (see title link).

Unionbay

Unionbay is a great, affordable brand available at most department stores. Although it offers trendy, stylish clothing, it manages to remain fashionable without trying too hard. See, the beauty of the brand is its ability to take simple prints and patterns and combine them with different colors to create a perfect outfit. For example, check out this look (above). The outfit is simple, from the striped shirt to the gray scarf. Yet the girl looks amazing (see title link). This brand is definitely worth it.

RocaWear

RocaWear has revamped their whole line to be more attractive to different people. Anyone can find something there, from preps to punks. They have great bling, too (see title link)! Of course, anything Jay-Z creates MUST be fabulous, right?

Candie's

Kohl's line, Candie's, is the most fun fashion brand ever. Not only does it have Hayden Panettiere endorsing it, but the line also boasts stylish clothing that is bold without being unwearable. Candie's clothing is glamorous, feminine, and ultra-chic, not to mention affordable (see title link).

Identify Yourself

Skinny jeans can make anyone feel confident. The best ones are by Baby Phat, and can be bought at Macy's (see title link).

Widget

Free stuff is always awesome. What better to remind you to claim free stuff (or, in other words, enter to win it) than a Widget? Now, you can add the Seventeen Widget to your Facebook or MySpace, so that you'll always remember to enter your name in the running for that freebie (see title link). Word is, they're giving away a candy ring today worth $79 from skinnystyle.com.

Converse!

One trend that has astonishingly survived for decades: Converses. The trademark All-Star Chucks have been worn since the 80s and still are hot today! They are a basic need for any wardrobe. Pair them with a skirt for a punk look or jeans for a laid-back outfit (see title link). Coming in different shades and lengths (ankle, clog, etc), they're actually affordable, too (see title link).

Monday, September 1, 2008

AE

Never underestimate the value of a good casual wardrobe. That's exactly what AE clothes bring to the table. American Eagle Outfitters (see title link) provides perfect preppy pieces that are great for a day at the mall. They don't have horrendous prices, either.

Smooch

Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shimmer is an amazing product, especially in the Fresh shade. 94% of its ingredients are natual, making it filled with fruity extracts like blueberry and acai. Even its packaging is earth-friendly. If you don't like this shade, try the other 15. There's something for everybody (see title link). I love this product, because it feels completely weightless on my lips.

Seventeen

Check out the new issue of Seventeen (see title link). It's on newsstands now, and it has tons of great back-to-school stuff.

Eating

Did you know that some girls have food rituals where they do weird things to their foods before eating them to make themselves feel as if they have more control? Well, it could lead to a dangerous eating disorder to make you want to feel as if you have even MORE control. Don't let it spiral out of control. It's not a bad thing to eat, and it's not necessarily good to eat just to take your mind off another stress in your life, either (see title link).

S-T-R-I-P-E-S

The title above used to be my top fashion enemy. I hated thin, striped clothing and would never be caught dead wearing it. Then I saw Ella Moss clothing. Although she is a top, brand-name designer, she has a way of making almost any pattern, print, or technique look stylish. When I saw the above top in a white-and-olive pattern (see title link), I was in love. Although the top was $60, I realized that I could find a similar top elsewhere and actually wear it. Ella Moss' clothing is truly the work of an artist.

Nails!

Dull pastel shades are hot nail colors for fall. So for pretty nails, try a bold but demure color (see title link)!

Volume

We all want to give our hair a little extra oomph once in a while. In my opinion, TreSemme Weightless Body Extra Hold Mousse does the trick. It's strong and once I apply it to my damp hair, it gives it so much character (see title link). Nathaniel Hawkins, a celebrity hairstylist, recommends applying it liberally from roots to ends before blowdrying. Plus, the mousse is only $4! So what's to lose?
